NOVEMBER QUIET DAY: Join us Saturday, November 23rd

Updated: Nov 14, 2024

We invite you to join us for a day of rest and spiritual renewal on Saturday, November 23rd, on the beautiful campus of Church of Our Saviour. While quiet days can often feel intimidating to people who do not have an ongoing spiritual practice of quiet contemplation, our hope is to offer something for everyone, seeker and veteran seeker. We will spend time talking about different forms of spiritual and mindfulness practice, from centering prayer to walking meditation.

We will begin promptly at 9:30 am in our historic sanctuary, break our time up into three sessions, and end with community prayer. Each session will follow the pattern of 20 minutes of teaching, 20 minutes of actively engaging the content, and 20 minutes of silent contemplation. Our time together will end at 1:00 pm. Light refreshments and coffee will be available starting at 9 am.

If silent meditation does not take you to the deeper place that you desire, we will have active contemplation stations available throughout this Quiet Day. Some of those stations will offer visio divina (the practice of encountering the divine through images): meditating on the work of He Chi, walking mediation prompts, and soul collage. Please join us as we all take a collective deep breath and “try on” different spiritual practices as a way to journey closer to our Source. In the words of Henri Nouwen from his book Spiritual Formation,

Contemplative prayer often brings us to an intimate encounter with the love of God, revealed to us in Jesus. In such an experience we come to know ever more deeply that God is not against us, but for us; not far from us, but with us; not outside of us, but deeply within. As we take a quiet moment to reflect in a peaceful place, our minds and hearts become still and, in this stillness, become deeper and wider, inviting/unbinding the eternal quality of life in all its fullness. It is in the growing inner awareness of the eternal embrace of God that we find our true freedom.

Please join us on this Quiet Day as we create space for you to listen for God deep within you.

Church of Our Saviour is located at 535 W. Roses Road, San Gabriel. For questions and/or to make a reservation, please email info@cosepiscopal.org or call 626-282-5147, ext. 0.

Such a meaningful celebration of your teens. The sense of community and care came through https://qualityfenceandcustomoutdoors.com/ clearly, similar to faith-based stories I’ve seen.

A meaningful and respectful recap of the Rite 13 ceremony. The sense of community and growth was beautifully conveyed. I’ve read a similar reflection on youth milestones https://mirianlaw.com/ which made this resonate even more.

This was a https://www.adopthelp.com heartwarming update celebrating the teens and the community. The tone felt genuine and uplifting. It reminded me of a community story I read on an adopthelp-based review blog (adopthelp).

Such a positive and https://griffindeck.com/ encouraging post. The way you celebrated the teens felt respectful and uplifting. Community moments like this are always great to read about. I recently saw a similar community highlight on a griffindeck-based review blog (griffindeck).

This was a very informative https://asaptransportsolutions.com/ breakdown of the current pressures facing the auto industry, especially in China. The balance between policy, competition, and pricing was explained clearly and made the situation easy to follow. I came across a related discussion on an asaptransportsolutions-based review blog (asaptransportsolutions) that added another interesting angle on market shifts like these.
