Message from the Rector: IT’S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR

Years ago, there was a television commercial that played prior to the first day of school. The commercial showed two parents of adolescent children caroling “It’s the most wonderful time of the year” as they shopped for their children’s school supplies. I can relate.

There are many exciting things happening at Church of Our Saviour! On Sunday, August 22nd, we will have a blessing of the backpacks at all of our Sunday services. If you are a student or teacher of any kind and would like your backpack, laptop, or other device blessed, please bring them on Sunday August 22nd, and we will bless them at the Peace. Additionally, there will be refreshments and games after the 10 am service.

On Sunday, September 12th, COS will celebrate Our Saviour Sunday at all of our Sunday services. After each worship service there will be a digital ministry fair in Cleaver Hall as well as opportunities to experience our new choir room, get a sneak peek at Children’s service music as well as the Children’s Sunday school rooms. Please join us at 8 am (Rite I), 10 am (Rite II), 11:15 am (Mandarin or Children’s) or 4 pm (the Garden).

On Sunday, September 19th, all are invited by COS’ Chinese Ministry to a Harvest Moon festival at 12:30 pm (in addition to all of our Sunday services). All are welcome to celebrate, sing, as well as prepare and eat—or just eat!— harvest moon pies with our Mandarin-speaking sisters and brothers. For planning purposes, there will be a hard deadline of Sunday, September 12th for RSVPs.

On Sunday, September 26th, COS will celebrate Our Saviour Center Sunday at all of the Sunday services. As we all know, Our Saviour Center is an essential part of COS’ outreach ministry in the City of El Monte and beyond. This will be a wonderful opportunity to hear and share about this wonderful outreach effort that is alive and well even after the pandemic!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year.
