The Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles has installed the Rev. Dr. Antonio José Gallardo Lucena as its eighth bishop—and Church of Our Saviour is honored to host a special opportunity to meet him!
Bishop Antonio was elected on November 8, 2025, by clergy and lay delegates gathered at the Diocesan Convention. Following the required consents from bishops and standing committees across The Episcopal Church, he was ordained and consecrated to the episcopate on July 11, 2026, at All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena. For his ministry as bishop, he has chosen the theme “In the Spirit of Love and Truth/En El Espíritu de Amor y Verdad.”
A native of Barquisimeto, Venezuela, 59-year-old Bishop Antonio is the first Latino elected bishop of the Diocese of Los Angeles. Most recently, he served as rector of St. Luke’s/San Lucas Episcopal Church in Long Beach. His previous ministry includes serving at St. Luke’s of the Mountains in La Crescenta and in Latino ministries at All Saints, Pasadena. He also facilitated the diocesan group of clergy serving Latino-Hispanic communities from 2020 to 2024.
Following his consecration and installation, Bishop Antonio is visiting the diocese, spending time with a different deanery each week through the end of September. He is eager to meet the congregants of the Diocese of Los Angeles—and our turn is coming soon!
Save the Date: Saturday, July 25 | 11 am–2 pm
Church of Our Saviour will host the Deanery 5 celebration with Bishop Antonio. Come meet our new bishop, welcome him to Deanery 5, and celebrate this exciting new chapter in the life of our diocese.
