Letter from the Rector: ALLELUIA, CHRIST IS RISEN!

Dear siblings in Christ,

Alleluia, Christ is risen! This Sunday, we will gather with Christians near and far to celebrate the miraculous fact that the tomb was empty: Jesus rose from the dead. With this divine act of radical love, Jesus broke the bonds of death and now offers us the hope and knowledge of new life, even in death.

Church of Our Saviour is a vibrant faith community, welcoming all, empowered by sacramental worship to joyfully serve others in Christ's name. I arrived as Church of Our Savior’s new rector in March of 2019. My wife Anne (also an Episcopal priest) and my three daughters Eleanor (age 9), Harriet (5), and Francie (3) feel deeply grateful to call Church of Our Saviour (and San Gabriel) our home. Annie and I look forward to raising our children in a community that puts people and love above personalities and politics.

Whether this is the first time you will join us in worship or you grew up in this church, we thank you for choosing to spend a portion of your Easter celebration with us. We invite you to participate as you feel comfortable in worship. Please know that while traditional Episcopal liturgy has formalities, we are all making this up as we go along as we seek to build this community.

We are better, and our celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ is more joyful, because you choose to worship with us on Easter Sunday. I pray for you the grace and unimaginable blessing of the Easter life given to us this day. The Lord is risen Indeed!

Faithfully,

Jeff+
