COMMUNITY BBQ+: Join us for our annual barbeque with a Laós concert and an art show!

For the second year in a row, the Church of Our Saviour (COS) Community Barbeque and Laós Chamber Music will collaborate on Saturday, September 21, for an afternoon of gorgeous music, delicious food, and the much-anticipated Annual COS Bake-Off. This year, an incredible tradition will become even more amazing! The afternoon will include an art show in Allan Hall featuring original works by renowned biblical artist James He Qi.

The art show opens at 3 pm in Allan Hall and will feature artwork from James He Qi’s private collection. All paintings are originals, and many have never been displayed in public.  Then, starting at 4 pm, Laós Chamber Music’s concert, titled “Abundant Harmonies,” will launch its 2024–2025 season with an afternoon of eclectic chamber music exploring themes tied to the autumn equinox. Abundant Harmonies will be held in our historic sanctuary. Following the concert at 5:30 pm, COS’s mouth-watering Community Barbeque will take place in Cleaver Hall and in Telleen Courtyard.

In addition to the main events, COS will be holding its Annual COS Bake-Off during the BBQ. Contestants are encouraged to submit their prize-winning desserts by 5 pm on Saturday, September 16. A blind panel of judges will select the 2024–2025 COS Baker Laureate, and BBQ guests will get to sample the submissions for dessert!

“You won’t want to miss this COS tradition with a twist,” the Rev. Jeff Thornberg said. “Our annual Community BBQ just keeps getting better.”

Admission to the concert and art show is free. Tickets for the COS Community BBQ are $15 per adult and available for purchase at the door, starting at 5:15 pm. Children ages 10 and under eat free. Beer and wine will be available for purchase. Proceeds will benefit the ministries and programs of COS. For more information, please call (626) 282-5147 ext. 0 or email info@cosepiscopal.org.
